While the advertising images of Tahiti and Her Islands often show the exotic side to this marvelous part of the Pacific, those who have already tasted its charms know that the big attraction of our islands is the life style of its people. Most artists, whether residents or visitors, are not fooled, and their attempts to capture everyday life remain the most prized among art lovers. To illustrate this series of postage stamps devoted to daily life in Tahiti & Her Islands, the French Polynesia Postal and Telecommunications Department has chosen four works by André Deymonaz, whose style of applying paints to a canvas results in an uneven surface that creates striking figures with perfectly authentic poses.
