These shell-less molluscs are extremely diverse and are broken down into some fifty families from the group of opistobranchs. Polynesian lagoons are home to many representatives of these brightly-coloured sea-slugs characterised by slow and graceful movements.Although snorklers can frequently see these small and fragile animals in Polynesian lagoons, their study has only just begun. It is quite long and difficult because they live among algae and coral colonies and they lose their shape and colours once they die.The animals in this series, photographed by Philippe Bacchet, are: Elysia ornata, Glossodoris rufomarginata, Cyerce nigricans, and Herviella yatsui in the background.Christian Beslu
