Since 2013, the Post and Telecommunications Office staff has taken part in defining the philatelic programme by way of an internal competition. Each employee is invited to propose a theme, which is presented to the Philately Commission of French Polynesia. Three themes are picked up and one of them is selected and integrated into the programme. This is how,for instance, family farming was the topic selected in February 2014.
In 2015, the three proposals that were picked up by the Commission will be issued. These are: Papeete marketplace and its stands,(competition winner), humour (2nd place) and “Orero” or oratory art (3rd place).
The first planned issue is Mama Dolphin at the Sea Post Office. It was imagined by a young counter employee from TAHITI, who wanted to throw the sea, local culture and her occupation into relief, with a pinch of humour.
Translated into images by illustrator Philippe DONAGHY (Gotz), Mama Dolphin, wearing a bright-coloured dress and a shell crown, goes to the Sea Post Office for some business of hers. She is accompanied by a multitude of little fishes and welcomed by an overwhelmed employee at the counter.
The Post and Telecommunications Office is pleased to present this colourful vision of a Post Office counter employee in French Polynesia.
