As every year, little witches, monsters and other tūpāpa'u (revenant or ghost in Tahitian) are of released for Halloween. Halloween, is celebrated in the world on October 31st.
This is mainly celebrated in the USA since the 1930s named from "All Hallows Eve" or "the evening of all the saints". It Takes place before the All Saints' Day, well known by the
Polynesians who illuminate the graves of their dear deceased's during the "turamaramaraa".
For most of us, Halloween is especially the opportunity to bring out disguises and fancy dresses and make-ups for children and to party in suburbs looking or hunting for candies ("treat or trick") For these last twenty years, Halloween is more and more appreciated and followed in Polynesia.
Pumpkins are often decorated, sometimes tattooed, to add a Polynesian touch.
On our islands, the imagination and the superstition become entangled for a night time, repopulating our streets of our adorable small monsters disguised as mischievous spirits,
which would make go pale more with one "tūpāpa'u"!Then, go to be you the favorite tūpāpa'u of the evening?
Feel reassured, the Polynesian Post office proposes you this wink of philatelic eye which can frighten with difficulty your friends, and wishes you to spend all together a beautiful
evening of funs!
