Chinese astrology is based on a 12-year cycle. It includes many complex systems, among which 12 signs to which animals, symbols, legends and personality characteristics are associated. When combined to the five elements (metal, water, wood, fire and earth), this makes up a cycle of sixty different consecutive years.
2015 is the year of the Wood Goat. Eighth sign of the Chinese Horoscope, the Goat is the most gentle and feminine Chinese sign. It is an artist and a romantic. Generous and eager to please, it usually has a broad circle of friends whom it can rely on, and it engages in many activities. It loves supporting great causes. While thoughtful and altruistic, it can also be demanding and capricious and, often, does not proceed methodically. We will enter the Year of the Goat on 19 February 2015.
In French Polynesia, this event is the occasion for spectacular celebrations set up by the local Chinese community, over a period of 15 days. They start with the New Year’s Ball. Several Lion Dances take place in the City of PAPEETE. The main event is the Cultural Day set in the gardens of the KANTI temple of MAMAO. A lantern procession across the city wraps up the
festivities.
